In Political Science the class
was assigned what was called a Values Project.
Each student had to chose a Political Cartoon and write about what they
thought the message was that the cartoon was putting out.
We also had another project that we
had to do a long with the Political Cartoon that was to either write paper
about a problem that we were exposed to from out community or to do two case
briefings on the two court cases or your choice. I chose to do the paper on a community problem, to tell you the
truth I did that choice because I thought it would be easier.
Before I sat down to do my community problem paper, I asked a round to other students about what they were going to write about, one person from Denver was writing about the Columbine shooting, and how she was effected, another was writing about a kidnapping in her home town and well it got me to thinking. I am from a really small community, less than a thousand, so I tried to think of a topic that I knew quite a bit about. The topic I wrote about concerned a newsletter that went around town, called the Dubois Round Up.
After I turned in this paper and
received it back my professor, Brain Farmer, made two comments on my paper the
first comment was, “How did this impact the community?” To tell you the truth is hasn’t quite
yet. If thing keep going like they are
now then this problem will eventually cause the local VFW to close down because
the State Committee will not want to put up with the problems of greed and
determination that is going on though the local chapter of the VFW.
The second question on my paper from
my professor was, “What did you learn about America?” Well, I learned that they are many people that are sooo greed for
power and popularity that they will do anything and hurt anyone who stands in
their was to get what they want. Now
determination is one thing, but hurting others is not right. If a person wants power of popularity, then
it must be earned and waling all over people to get there is not the way to
go. Individuals should play by the
rules and if they don’t then they should receive the consequences and not step
around what the higher authority says.
