Should Individuals Steal Honors From Others?
In this world everyone has been a part of this act. No matter if they were the jealous one, or the victim of the destruction. The envious are jealous of the ones who work really hard to accomplish their goals and achieve their honors. Therefore, the envious manipulate the awardees and eventually took away the project that received the honors from the awardees and destroyed it.
So, I am writing this article because I am concern about the determination and greed of one, the jealous, to harm an innocent individual, my grandmother, that keeps and minds to herself; an individual that has worked nearly her entire life to construct a volunteer newsletter that many locals have come to love and depend on.
I have been a part of the Dubois, Wyoming community for the past eight years. Shortly after I moved to town, I became a part of the volunteer newsletter, also called the Dubois Round Up. At the age of ten, I began delivering this newsletter weekly. It seemed like a good idea, considering that it was a job and most ten year olds didn’t have jobs. I also chose to deliver the newsletter because it would allow me to help my grandmother who had directed the project. My grandma has dedicated much of her life to make the newsletter, the Dubois Round Up a success.
As I got older, I realized how important this newsletter is to the community. I would hear the jests of, “You’re late!” or “That’s it? It’s pretty thin today!” These comments let my grandmother and I know that the community cares about the Dubois Round Up. They notice subtle like layout change or when the print size gets larger.
About thirty years ago, the Dubois National Bank ran the Round Up. The bank decided that they were going to away with it. Instead of discontinuing it all together, my grandmother took it over, made some adjustments and moved it to the VFW; where it still is today. This paper is also called the Poop Sheet, is very dear to my grandmother, as well as to the rest of the community.
Soon everything was running smoothly, and it had ran great for nearly thirty years… up until about six months ago. A short while ago, verbal assaults were launched by a few of the women in the local chapter of the ladies auxiliary. Many of us feel that the origins of these hateful words descend directly from greed these women feel about the respect my grandmother has received due to her works with the Round Up.
Because the State Executive Committee decided to demolish the Poop Sheet, my grandma believed that is was all gone; all her hard work went down the drain. It turns out that the women of the local ladies auxiliary, made the decision regardless of what the State Committee’s ruling to revise the Round Up to their liking and distribute it themselves. This really upsets my grandma, as it did for the rest of the family. My grandmother felt as through all those years of dedication, volunteer work had been for nothing.
Since the Ladies of the Local Auxiliary abided by the rule they only felt necessary, it has destroyed everything that my grandmother has achieved. I propose that the community petitions the state level of the Ladies VFW Auxiliary to allow my grandmother to take her place back as the director of the Dubois Round Up; or to allow her to at least allow my grandmother to take part in the actions of the Dubois Round Up.
