Getting Started with IESX Programs

The following are instructions for setting up an access to UW GeoQuest programs.
  1. Schedule your time on Glengoyne (IESX will not run on remote login)
  2. Go to your home directory:

cd ~

  1. Using the browser, copy the following lines into a file iesx in this directory:

setenv APPLICATION IESX

source /gqs/.cshrc

setenv IESX_SHARED_COLORS 16

setenv IESX_PRIVATE_CMAP true

setenv KEEP_DISK_SPACE true

Geonet &

  1. Make this file executable by typing:

chmod u+x iesx

  1. Now run iesx. In the window that appears, select IESX button, in the pull-down menu, select IESX. The IESX Applcation Selection window will appear.
  2. Select type By project; in Select Project window, highlight exxon2, in Select Appliication window - select IESX. Click Start.
  3. In the IESX Session Manager window, type the password: exxon. Go to Application menu, then to Interpretation, and to Seis3DV, or Basemap
