The FAQ (Frequently Answered Questions) list, and archives for the newsgroup rec.crafts.metalworking, are stored at w3.uwyo.edu and can be obtained via anonymous ftp or the WWW link below.
Note that w3 may be down early Sunday mornings (midnight to 06:00), USA Mountain time.
The FAQ is in many parts (11 at this writing).
Up until 1995 the archive files comprise one large file per year. As of 1995, due to size, there are two files per year. Note also that the archive files are not kept especially current; I try to copy them to the anonymous directory about once a month.
The following are indexes to several publications. The first is an index
built by Joe Landau, of Home Shop Machinist, Projects in Metal,
and some of Model Engineers' Workshop. The other index, by Pete Brooks,
is of Village Press
books such as their Projects series, Metalworking series, and some of the
Shop Wisdom series.
