WSMLA General Membership Meeting                  January 14, 1995


Meeting Called to Order at 3:13 pm by President Judy Corkill.


Judy thanked Doc Bob and Mike Corrigan for putting convention together.


Since past minutes have been published in newsletter, Judy would like to skip reading the minutes since board has already approved them. Okay with membership.


Treasurer's Report: 1994 Income taken in $2030 for dues, 1994 convention, auction , State shoot and traveling trophy $4000+. Expenses: $1300 newsletter, liability, convention expenses, state shoot (broke even), 1994 expenses totaled $3968 for a balance of $2284.71 + 2500 in CDs, totaling $4784.71 + CD interest.


Convention Proposal from Parkway Plaza: presented last night along with Holiday Inn, Board felt Holiday Inn best bet (indoor Swimming pool), future growth may create need later, prices comparable, except for big room fees ($100/day/room). Will stay here (Holiday Inn) for 1996. NMLRA insurance coverage of board.


Photo contest located in Ash Room, please vote on photos. Winning photos sold at auction. B&W and color. Auction after banquet during talent show. Auction donations to Doc Bob.


Jim Hayes (1996 Western Nationals) real ugly: Volunteered to be booshway, Reggie Pierce expressed interest in shooting events. Would like volunteers to help out. Contact Jim if interested. Phil Nieson - Nationals a big job. Jim said it would be up to individual on what can be done, knows Dave Tyrell from back seat encounter. Rendezvous location - Powder River Pass same site as 1992 Nationals. Not NMLRA sanctioned for 1996. Need help. Thank you.


John Boesch 1838 Rendezvous Association. John wanted to mention land purchase of property on south federal boulevard (Knight Drive-in), property at half price. Plans for cultural center - IMAX film center, entertainment draw, self supporting, Rendezvous film setting, trapper and Indian by fire, tepee tour, ask questions, talks about time gone by, drift out smoke flaps and go into historical projection of buffalo hunt etc. Then trapper tells story for Mountain men, up to wagons etc. International attraction. Need 100,000 to purchase. Square foot deeds on property at $20 per square foot. Soil from site in medicine bag for square yard purchase. Need help. Have until March 31, 1995 to raise money, can probably extend. Private corporations may help fund building structures after acquisition of land, 8-14 million for entire project. 1838 Rendezvous Association is a 501-C-3 Corporation( Tax deductible). Don Srofe from Fort Bridger Rendezvous (Labor Day weekend)- Trader spots still open. No info here at convention, but can send if requested, get a hold of Don.

Membership said Dave Tyrell did a good job.


Trinidad Herrera Postal Match - couple of new things to discuss, change from double bull buff to single bull buff for higher scores. Need membership consensus. Team secretary should have informed team of proposal. Hands for change. Team membership 50% WSMLA only, or team can buy State Association membership for team, good for postal match only $15 + $15 Postal match fee. Phil Niesan - Does anybody live in Torrington? Torrington likes idea, may increase interest in State, some people may have been unable to travel to convention, but still might participate. Membership approved ideas for board to review and decide on. Phil Nieson - Moved that State association do as Trinidad stated. Moved and seconded for team membership. Discussion - 50/50 membership after several years? Group will get newsletter which may increase statewide participation. Can always be removed. Verlin Danner said to let the board and Trinidad run it. Dale Corkill 2nd. Motion passed. Board will decide on target also. Postal Match took in $121 and spent $134 for awards. AWARDS - See Attached Postal Match Summary. Sportsmanship award to SubJunior Rhett Stickney. Trophy barrels donated by Orion, Woody Nelson donated wood.

Elections for Board of Directors: 3 year terms of Roger Roebling, Tony Larvie, Judy Corkill and Bryan Youngberg expire.

Judy reminded everyone - one membership card, one vote. Judy reconvened after voting: Reminder of requirement for NMLRA Membership of board members for insurance purposes.

Contact Newsletter editor Sunday morning for changes. Trinidad asked if Board was running State shoot in Gillette. Answer was no, but board will help.

Mike Corrigan wanted to dispel rumor of Bogus shoot - No Casper Events center shoot, a joke. Holiday Inn providing complimentary kegs, no canned beer brought into auction room, talent show 5-6 entries, Threat that Phil and Mike will sing if no more entries. State bench match no date. Phil Niesan thanked Mike Cash for Newsletter. Tony Larvie asked for a standing ovulation (not sure if he got it). Scott Gormley stated new time for board meeting (8:00 am instead of 7:30 am) in Aspen room. Roger thanked Judy for being President through 1994. Rick Conwell thanked Bighorn Basin ML club for site and help. Bighorn Basin did a lot of preparatory work. Judy said, "See you at Gillette."


Election Results: Nominated to the 1995 Board of Directors for three year terms were Tony Larvie, Robin Sinclair, Ray Lawrence and Bryan Youngberg.


Bryan Youngberg presented Phil Niesan with a Southern Bighorn hunting success award to hopefully help him get a buck for once. 1838 Rendezvous cocktail bar is open after meeting. Banquet may be later than 5:30 pm starting time.
